Picks from the Pittsburgh World of Wheels: Round 2

Fritz Holzer from RPM Hot Rods showed his 1954 GMC pickup which made its debut at the show. It's refreshing to see a GMC as opposed to the more common Chevrolet trucks of this vintage. This truck oozes cool.

Your fearless editor, Albert Heiles showed his 1959 VW Herbie the Love Bug. A rarity at any show, this car is car number 6 and was used in the filming of The Love Bug and its sequel Herbie Rides Again.

No ISCA show is complete without at least one 1970s show car. This big block 1968 Corvette is a former championship winning car from 1972. Aside from one repaint a few years ago, this car is exactly how it was built. Complete with the fat McCreary tires, black and white Sony TV, and the wild flip nose front end. This one was originally built by show car builder Jerry Roman.

Picks from the Pittsburgh World of Wheels: Round 1

This past weekend saw the 51st annual Pittsburgh World of Wheels come to town. I spent the weekend at the show as I had a car entered so I had the opportunity to spend a LOT of time looking at all the eye candy on display. Here's some of my choices of cars and trucks that were on display.

This 1965 Corvette was shown by Ron Champe. This car was a retirement project that took over two years to complete.

Bob Liberatore brought out this awesome 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 light weight replica. Gotta love the old factory racers and this one had all the looks, plus the punch thanks to a motor from Ford Racing. Bob had the 64 hooked up via a tow bar to his equally nice 64 Galaxie convertible.

Atomic Orange is one of my favorite recent GM colors, it's also a favorite of Jim McGruder from Ohio. He brought his mildly customized 2007 Corvette which is themed around Orange Crush soda.

Here's another food themed entry. This 1955 Chevy Pickup owned by Gary & Flo Garman of Mt. Wolf, PA. Called Home Grown. The color theme of this tasty ride is watermelon. And interesting touch is the slight patina purposely placed on a few raised edges and the tail gate. And you have to love the watermelon shaped and painted air cleaner cover.

Tammy Rayof Dahlonega, GA brought the 2011 Ridler Award winning 1933 Ford Phaeton to Pittsburgh. It's hard to hide that this is a Chip Foose designed hot rod. This one will be back in Detroit in a few weeks to defend it's title.

Dennis Mascari, owner of Mascari Auto Body brought two cars from his collection to the show. This 1957 Chevy Nomad carries factory fuel injection and genuine Corvette knockoff wheels.

Hot Rod of the Day

This awesome 32 Ford Sedan was spotted over the weekend at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California. While I'm a fan of a traditional style featuring full fenders, I do really like the overall look of this one. Period mid 1960s.

Tips Google Adsense Diblog Bahasa Indonesia

google_language = "en";

Apa maksudnya? ini seolah-olah sama kaya Google Translate, jadi seolah-olah anda maksa Google menayangkan Iklan mereka di Blog anda dengan bantuan Google Translate, Contoh penerapannya gini:

Kode Asli biasaya kaya gini:

Setelah ditambah Script tadi hasilnya jadi kaya gini:

4. Perhatikan gambar dibawah ini:

Nah setelah Add New Site anda klik maka anda akan diminta memasukkan Nama serta Url Blog yang Widgetnya ingin dibuat, Mungkin anda bertanya, tapi kan Blog saya Nama dan Urlnya udah ada masa mau di Double? lha saya kan emank mau nyuruh anda bikin Double hhe lha emank gak ngaruh toh? tenang gak ada pengaruh apa-apa kok haha... setelah nama dan url diisi, untuk Website Language gak usah diapa-apain biarin aja Otomatis :) klo udah Klik Continue

5. Setelah itu anda akan melihat penampakan berikut:

Klik aja langsung kata-kata Add The Members gadget-nya.

Nah klik deh tuh Tulisan See What else you can do with Friend Connect >>

Nah perhatikan Point No.1, klik Asosiasikan dengan akun saya hingga berubah menjadi gambar diatas, klo udah silahkan langsung klik Generate Code

9. Kode Google Adsense Ala Google Friend Connect pun siap anda pasang di blog bahasa Indonesia anda dengan aman tanpa perlu kuatir melanggar TOS.

Saabs of our lives: Saab museum saved

News this morning from Trollhättan. It appears that the Saab automobile museum has been saved.  The city of Trollhättan, SAAB AB and The Wallenberg foundations have all stepped up to the plate with a combined bid of $28 million Kroner or $4.14 million dollars to save the museum from being broken up. Hemmings Motor News reports that some individual bids for cars were being accepted, but it is not known if the sales will go through or if all of the cars will remain in the collection. Saabs United reports that over 500 bids were submitted for the museums collection of cars. So right now the good news is, that even if Saab does end up going away at the end of bankruptcy proceedings, the history of the brand will continue on.

Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA)

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is a United States bill introduced by U.S. Representative Lamar S. Smith (R-TX) to expand the ability of U.S. law enforcement to fight online trafficking in copyrighted intellectual property and counterfeit goods. Provisions include the requesting of court orders to bar advertising networks and payment facilities from conducting business with infringing websites, and search engines from linking to the sites, and court orders requiring Internet service providers to block access to the sites. The law would expand existing criminal laws to include unauthorized streaming of copyright material, imposing a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

Proponents of the bill say it protects the intellectual property market and corresponding industry, jobs and revenue, and is necessary to bolster enforcement of copyright laws, especially against foreign websites. Claiming flaws in present laws that do not cover foreign owned and operated sites, and citing examples of "active promotion of rogue websites" by U.S. search engines, proponents say stronger enforcement tools are needed.

Opponents say the proposed legislation threatens free speech and innovation, and enables law enforcement to block access to entire internet domains due to infringing material posted on a single blog or webpage. They have raised concerns that SOPA would bypass the "safe harbor" protections from liability presently afforded to Internet sites by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) warns that proxy servers and websites hosting user-generated content, such as Etsy, Flickr and Vimeo, could be targeted under the bill. Library associations have expressed concerns that the bill's emphasis on stronger copyright enforcement would expose libraries to prosecution. Other opponents state that requiring search engines to delete a domain name could begin a worldwide arms race of unprecedented censorship of the Web and violates the First Amendment.

On January 18, 2012, the English Wikipedia, Reddit, and an estimated 7,000 other smaller websites coordinated a service blackout, or posted links and images in protest against SOPA and the Senate bill, the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA), in an effort to raise awareness. In excess of 160 million people saw Wikipedia's banner. A number of other protest actions were organized, including petition drives, with Google saying it collected over 7 million signatures, boycotts of companies that support the legislation, and a rally held in New York City. The Electronic Frontier Foundation, a rights advocacy non-profit group, confirmed the protests were the biggest in Internet history, with over 115 thousand sites altering their webpages.

In response to the protest actions, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) stated, "It’s a dangerous and troubling development when the platforms that serve as gateways to information intentionally skew the facts to incite their users and arm them with misinformation," and "it’s very difficult to counter the misinformation when the disseminators also own the platform."

On January 20, 2012, Smith postponed plans to draft the bill "until there is wider agreement on a solution."[not verified in body] The Online Protection and Enforcement of Digital Trade Act (OPEN) has been proposed as an alternative.link
